Hi there. I am a soprano and veteran performer. My performing experience runs from Art Song to Opera – including orchestral works, chamber music, and contemporary classical, in the U.S. and around the globe. These days I am not performing so much due to a health problem that affects my singing.
My teaching experience includes all levels of singing from beginners and children, to graduate students and professionals; mostly classical , but some other genres. I am certified as a vocal technician and Master Teacher from the McClosky Institute of Voice, a group devoted to healthy voice production and voice rehab according to the teachings of David Blair McClosky, who was one of my teachers. I have taught at Boston University, Emory University, and Illinois State University, each of which focused on a different type of student (performance, liberal arts, music education). For more about me, see my personal website, bonniepomfret.com.
These days, in my 60’s, I teach privately at home in the western suburbs of Boston and online. My students run the gamut from rank beginners to professionals making a Fach change, to seniors who are rehabilitating the voice after illness, injury, or many years without singing. Every lesson of the week is different from all the others. I have started this blog because I feel like I have helpful ideas about singing to offer to a wider audience.
